Find
out which code your remote is using
This
procedure is used to establish which three digit code has been programmed into
the Sky Remote.
It is useful to find out which code is being used so that the same code can
be re-entered when batteries are replaced or the RCU loses the memory settings
for any reason. Setting will be lost if the batteries are removed for more
than 8 minutes.
1. Press the TV button on the Sky Remote Control Unit.
2. Press and Hold down the Select and Red buttons simultaneously on the Sky
RCU until the LED blinks (flashes) twice.
3. Press the numbers 9,9,0 on the Remote Control Unit.
4. Key in 1 on the RCU and count the number of times the LED blinks. The
number of blinks will indicate the first digit of the code.
5. Key in 2 on the RCU and count the number of times the LED blinks. The
number of blinks will indicate the second digit of the code.
6. Key in 3 on the RCU and count the number of times the LED blinks. The
number of blinks will indicate the third digit of the code.
Once the 3 digit code has been identified, the Remote Control Unit can then be
reprogrammed using the Direct Set procedure.
'3
digit' or 'Direct Set' method
1. Turn on your TV.
2. Press TV on your Sky remote control.
3. Hold down select and the red button together for about two seconds, until
the red light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.
4. Key in the three digits of the first 'Direct Set' code for the manufacturer
of your TV; the red light on the Sky remote control will blink twice.
5. Press TV and try the handset, using all the function buttons like power,
volume and channel etc. If it works all the TV functions, then try the TV
guide button.
6. If the Direct set code did not work then start again from step 1 with the
next three digit code in the list for the manufacturer of your TV.
7. Press TV guide .

satellite TV (For scart switching, this may be one of the other buttons on
your remote e.g. help, i or a colour button).

remote control setup process is complete.
'4
digit' or 'Brand Set' method

blinks twice.

this (press TV , then on/off) until your TV turns off, then press select.
If the light on your Sky remote control blinks three times, your Sky digibox
has checked all the possible settings for the code you used. Check that you
have the right 4 digit code and start again at step 1.

If you see the TV Guide screen, the remote control setup process is complete.

Sky Digibox
software - forced downloads
The sky receiver software controls the services on
the Sky Digibox. These includes the menu system, the available Sky Channels and
interactive services.
If your digibox has been in constant use, your
digibox should have the latest software. The Sky satellite automatically
broadcasts updates to the digibox's software.
When a digibox has not been used for some time and
its software is updated, you will notice various changes to the operation of the
digibox like: new channels and interactive services and an updated programme
guide.
It is recommended that the software be updated via
a "Forced Download" when a digibox has not been used for some time. A digibox
may have missed some updates from the Sky satellite when say, you have moved
house or bought a receiver second-hand. A Forced Download is essential for all
new installations.
To check the software version, press services on
your Sky remote then enter the System Setup menu option.
To perform a forced download, follow these steps
-
Press and hold the back up button on the receiver
(not the one on the handset)
-
While holding down the back up button, switch the
receiver off at the mains, then back on again.
-
After about 10 to 20 seconds all the lights on
the front of the receiver will come on. You can now release the back up
button.
If your TV is connected to your digibox by SCART
lead, a message will appear informing you that the system software is being
updated and to wait for about 10 minutes. On the faster digiboxes it may only
take 5 minutes.
-
Once the software update is complete, the message
will disappear from the TV screen. Wait for about 30 seconds then press the
Sky button on your Sky remote.
-
You can now go to the System Setup option in the
Services menu to check the version
